Kappad beach in Kozhikode is one of the most beautiful and charming beaches in Kerala. This rock-studded beach is locally known as Kappakadavu. This historically important beach served as the gateway to the Malabar Coast, Vasco Da Gama the Portuguese explorer sailed into Kerala and created a new chapter in history which in turn established a long and tumultuous socio-political relationship between India and Europe. Spices and wealth were impetuous for the landings made by the Arabs, Phoenicians, Greeks, and Romans, etc.
To the tourist, this little seafaring town is a haven. The best route to Kappad is along the backwaters. Unspoiled and uncrowded, the picturesque backwaters of Kozhikode offer a bewitching experience. A ride down the backwaters through the Korappuzha River brings you to the beach.
