Yercaud

Yercaud in the northern part of Tamil Nadu is a quiet and cozy Hill station nestled on the Shevaroy Hills of the Eastern Ghats. The unique aspect of this place is that while the rest of this region is generally dry, including the predominantly short and rocky hills of the Eastern Ghats, Yercaud, in stark contrast has a cool climate all year round wherein the temperature never rises above 30ºC nor does it dip below 13ºC. It is also a less expensive place than either Udhagamandalam (Ooty) or Kodaikkanal.

The other notable feature of Yercaud is the cultivation of coffee and fruits like oranges, bananas, pears, and jackfruit. Activities also include trekking through the picturesque hills to pass one’s time.

Places for sight-seeing include the Yercaud lake, Lady’s Seat, Killiyur Falls, Pagoda Point, Arthur’s Seat, Kaveri Peak, and the Shevaroyan temple.
